Meet the Hegerbergs

Our goal is to provide you high quality, local beef. Read our story below.

Heron Ag was started with a dream in 2018

We dreamed of having a piece of land with the space to
implement and grow the farming practices we value.

After a lot of searching, we found the property in Sheridan, Oregon, where we now reside and farm. The land had been neglected for many years prior to us moving in. It was overgrown with brush, blackberries, Christmas trees, and a whole lot of other stuff that had accumulated over the years. We have put a lot of sweat and time into clearing and improving the property. Once the old was cleared away, we started establishing new fence lines and pastures, making upgrades to the facilities, and improving the flow of the property.

It’s an ever-evolving project, but the property looks vastly
improved compared to what we started with. Once we had the property, it was time to get the cows. We wanted to raise Aberdeen or Lowline Angus, which are difficult to find in the northwest. As fate would have it, a herd came on to the market shortly after we bought the farm. We made the leap and purchased the herd. Over the past five years, we have worked hard to make the herd healthy and strong.

Today, our herd has become a vibrant bunch that are growing
into the animals we ultimately want to raise.

One of our main goals on our cattle venture is to create a sustainable, healthy herd that provides you with high-quality beef. Aberdeen Angus have a smaller body size than many breeds and are well suited for small families and individuals in a more suburban or urban setting. They are an ideal choice for those without a lot of freezer space and those who are conscious about leftovers and food waste.
